"The Banda Islands (Indonesian: Kepulauan Banda) are a volcanic group of ten small volcanic islands in the Banda Sea, about 140km south of Seram island and about 2000km east of Java, and are part of the Indonesian province of Maluku. The main town and administrative centre is Bandanaira, located on the island of the same name. They rise out of 4-6 km deep ocean and have a total land area of approximately 180 km². They have a population of about 15,000. Until the mid 19th century the Banda Islands were the world's only source of the spices nutmeg and mace, produced from the nutmeg tree. The islands are also popular destinations for scuba diving and snorkeling."

Gedung Museum Banda Naira yang berisikan barang-barang peninggalan masa penjajahan. Para pengunjung dapat melihat koleksi meriam, botol-botol minuman, peralatan makan dan minum, senjata-senjata, meja dan kursi, uang-uang VOC, harmapon, foto-foto, dan masih banyak lagi koleksi lainnya. Semuanya asli peninggalan para penjajah yang pernah dating menjajah Banda Naira, seperti Spanyol, Portugis, Inggris dan Belanda.

Di tempat ini juga, pengunjung dapat melihat sketsa asli dari pahlawan Maluku, Kapitan Pattimura. Sketsa ini diperoleh dari Museum Angkatan Laut di Prince Hendrik Kade, di Roterdam, Belanda. Sketsa tersebut dilukis oleh Q.M.R. Verhuell pada saat membuat beriata acara pemeriksaan terhadap Kapitan Pattimura. Q.M.R. Verhuell, adalah seorang Komandan Marinir Belanda yang menumpas pemberontakan Pattimura pada tahun 1817, di Ambon.
