Creating and Editing Mesh Using ZBrush
This tutorial covers some basics in the process of creating and editing mesh using ZBrush.
Start with Zsphere
Click ESC on startup screen
Click Zsphere
Drag it on to canvas
Click T to activate edit mode
Use Q, W, E, and R to manipulate or create spheres
Click X to mirror symmetry
Green create a single sphere on the center axis
Click A to preview
Click CTRL Z to undo mistakes
Click make poly mesh
Click X again
Click CTRL D to increase resolution
resolution panel / stay under 1.5 mil active points
Mesh Editing
While over mesh-
Click and drag to add geometry
ALT Click and drag to subtract geometry
Shift Click and drag to smooth mesh
Brush Tools
Right click to bring up brush dialog box
Brush size and intensity
Brush menu
Alpha menu
Stroke menu
Moving the object
While in open space or out of safety box-
difference in moving object and moving canvas
Click to rotate
Hit shift while rotating to snap
ALT click and drag to move around
ALT click drag and release ALT to zoom
ALT double click open area to center your mesh
Masking areas
CTRL click to draw mask on surface / same size as brush
CTRL click open area to reverse the mask
CTRL click and drag a little to remove the mask
CTRL click and drag over mesh to mask through object
CTRL click within mask to soften mask selection
Transposing
Mask area to be unaffected
Click X to turn X symmetry off
Use Q, W, E, and R then drag to place transpose tool
Outer circle moves the tool
Inner circle manipulates the mesh
Hide or Show areas of mesh
Hold CTRL and Shift then drag over mesh to work on
Hold CTRL and Shift then click your object to reverse
Hold CTRL and Shift then click once outside to show all
